The initial honeymoon phase of my engineering career lasted about a year, but without a strong sense of meaning or passion for the work I was doing, I soon realized how stuck I felt. I got married shortly after and had a lot of the “stuff” that “successful people” have, like a house, a dog, and one or two vacations a year. Even so, the fact that I was spending so much of my life in an unfulfilling situation to earn money was eating away at me.
